This is a bizarre situation.
The flight number didn't change at all, just the time. I found out my ticket wasn't in good status in October by logging into Swiss. I literally spent 2 weeks trying to get LM to reissue it (they insisted it was ok, Swiss the opposite)... took to Twitter, Facebook etc etc...and finally they called me.
A new ticket was issued, with a different ticket number, on October 21st. Not trusting AV, I confirmed with Swiss, they said, "it looks OK". But on November 11th Swiss cancelled it.
I asked Swiss on Twitter what the reason for the cancellation and they wrote "the travel agency did not do the reissue it and it was cancelled by our system automatically".
1) Avianca is supposed to inform passengers about schedule changes, just like an OTA does. But it doesn't bother-- ever. 5 tickets later and each one I have to check on repeatedly (which I do anyway).
2) Avianca makes it virtually impossible to get a ticket reissued. They bounce you back and forth from Operational Changes to Voluntary Changes to LifeMiles services. It's a complete disaster.
Why could they not properly reissue a ticket? Does it really take hours of phone calls, multiple divisions and lots of confusion to understand one of the most basic things-- reissuing a ticket.
How they could possibly mess up a reissuance?
