Report documents more security lapses at Newark Airport

Newsday Article

"Baggage screeners at Newark Liberty International Airport missed one out of every four fake bombs or weapons inspectors tried to sneak past checkpoints in tests this summer, according to confidential inspection reports obtained by The Star-Ledger of Newark."

Gee, that's a solid C average. I don't understand why people are complaining.

"Staffing shortages and worker retention remain issues at the airport, according to Rep. William Pascrell Jr., D-Paterson, who called the results unacceptable."

You're right about the results being unacceptable, Congressman. But you're dead wrong about staffing shortages. TSA employees are wasting their time and destroying passengers' civil liberties with haraSSSSment, the Shoe Carnival, and now the Checkpoint Grope. That's the real reason that 1 out of every 4 attempts to smuggle "contraband" past the checkpoint does and will continue to succeed.
