That statement is not true . On the old Aeroplan I could go from North America to South Africa for 75000 points one-way in Biz Class now it is 100,000 miles one-way in biz class
It now cost 33% more miles.
Aeroplan/ Air canada has devalued the program from allowing 2 stop overs or one stopover and an open jaw to allowing only 1 stop over on an Inter national ticket to now charging 5000 miles/points for a stop over on a one-way ticket.

...
Air Canada is also looking for a bailout from Canadian Taxpayers.
Where have all those profits gone before the pandemic?
They were sure buying back lots of shares with the profits.
Re Issue those shares . Too bad if it devalues the shares.
Canadian taxpayers should not bail out this company.
Aeroplan members are being forced to partly bail out Air Canada through a devaluation.

I think the Canadian show Marketplace should do an in-depth show on what Air Canada is doing to its members during a pandemic
I don't think anyone with any past knowledge of AC and Aeroplan was expecting that there wouldn't be devaluations. However, the new pricing model by region and removal of scam-charges HAS up-valued the program for some depending upon your typical point of origin and destination. This has been discussed to death in this thread.

As far as AC financial condition and your business questions and complaints - while I sympathize with the impact on consumers due to COVID, I also understand that the unprecedented cash-flow hit this puts on AC and their concern about survival of the business is going to be put above making consumers happy, Other than that - also dealt with to death on this thread and related threads in this forum already.
