The person from your local Congressional member's office is correctwhen it comes to the first sentence above. About the second sentence above, that probably requires some sort of clarification from the woman to whom you talked about what exactly she meant. Did she tell you what to do next, if anything?

I know someone who somehow became a GE member despite the person's residence being raided by the FBI+local authorities and that raid resulting in the person being arrested less than 10-15 years before applying for GE and becoming a GE member. I will try to find out more about how that person became a GE member, since I know from the enrollment interview and the renewals that the CBP never brought up anything about the person's history with the FBI+local authorities' raid.
