I'm doing a MR to Singapore in a few weeks and was not relishing a 1AM cab ride to downtown and 4 hours of sleep in a downtown hotel for $125. I was hoping to spend the night in the transit hotel and then clear customs (I only have carry-on) and then head for the city in the daylight.

Can I do this? Do I have to clear immigration immediately?
