Heads Up: Kauai Likely to Shut Down
Kauai is dealing with 16 active cases. They're also dealing with 12 passengers that arrived to the island with negative pre-travel tests that ended up being positive (and some needed hospitalization). As such, the Mayor of the island has asked the Governor to allow for mandatory second testing of arrivals after a required quarantine period.
Governor Ige said he won't allow this, but has until tonight to decide for sure.
Kauai's mayor said if the Governor doesn't allow it, he will immediately pull Kauai out of the pre-travel testing program which means everyone would need to quarantine for 14 days at their expense in an allowable COVID quarantine shelter.
