Is it possible to have the child sleep with mother since we are just paranoid letting one person in economy during covid times in a full 16 hour long flight?
I am sympathetic with your situation but one of the adults will have to sit back in Y and stay there.
I have a friend who is a resident of Japan that just went through the same situation. He has 2 children (ages 3 and 4) but could only get 3 J seats and 1 Y. When they boarded, they inquired about having the 2 children sit together after takeoff in the J seat and the FAs said they could not allow that. He ended-up flying in Y so his wife could manage the kids in J.
