Currently have a Kiwibank Platinum card, which is due to renew in a couple of months and given we are trying to cut costs at home in lieu of reduced income, I would rather not have the expense of a credit card fee when I am not spending on it - having shifted spend to BNZ Cashback instead of Airpoints.
I think I could go for a KB Low-Fee Airpoints card (maybe switch card types), which wouldn't be a massive cost, but I wondered what happens if I just cancel the card outright? Do all expiry dates which originally applied get immediately effected (ie overnight I would lose any APD >4yr) or does the 4yr date get reset and start as soon as the card is cancelled?
I dont think there is a zero cost option to keep the points alive, as the free Amex doesnt have this benefit as far as I know?
Many thanks

use the Westpac airpoints world card
No fees if you meet spending levels
