I opened an Amex Hilton Surpass in October. I also referred my husband. I was supposed to get 20,000 bonus points for the referral.

I never got the Hilton bonus points. When I inquired initially, Amex told me that Hilton rejected the transfer of points. This made no sense since other transfer on the same day succeeded, for points from my signup offer and spending.A 3 way call between Amex and Hilton led nowhere either. Hilton had no trace of any transfer. Apparently they log only successful transfers, not failures (SMH). I opened a case with Amex as a result in October. The case was closed with a resolution stating the referral points would be paid in 8 to 12 weeks.

My Amex Surpass statement says I earned the bonus points. The Hilton statement shows it is missing those points.

Has anyone else run into this ? What's the magic incantation to get those points actually paid ? Have others seen the bonus points actually post after 8 to 12 weeks ?

Do I have to open a dispute with the CFPB ?
