I don't want to get anyone in to trouble, but I routinely check in while the car is being parked. #1, We normally do online checkin. #2 If not, I do kiosk check in for both of us. #3, Last resort, I check in at counter and ticket agent holds travel companion's boarding pass until they come and claim it with id.

I take it that #3 isn't SOP?
