Actually, it is not an alternative at all. Without going to too technical, those people are simply administer of Oath. So anything beyond the Oath does not work.

Just make sure you show up at a BOCHK branch next time you are in Hong Kong.

Your account is open in principal. But there will be some additional steps need to be done.
