Why don't you just charge back on your credit card providing the issuer with the proof of cancellation by the airline (email, screenshot etc)?
I also tried this twice without success. The problem is that I never got a canellation confirmation and for the chargeback I need that plus a confirmation from the airine that they will refund the amount. Even with those both I need to wait 6 weeks and if I still don't get anything I can try a chargeback. This is what my bank said. Stupid and unbelievable
