It's worth noting that BA/IB codeshares automatically book into Optima. Optima also gets you the standard checked bag allowance.
It's also somewhat ironic that LCCs in general have been so successful at getting people to travel with carry-on luggage only, that they now need to push people back in the direction of checking in a bag.
