Thanks GregWTravels! I fully agree with you. Especially as work life has lately been enormously busy, I have somehow moved away from capitals and big cities and actually started to seek out smaller cities and towns instead.

It's much more relaxed, you can just go out and explore without needing to do much advance research, and the people are generally nicer too. In Bavaria, I'd take a city like Bamberg or (a bit bigger) Augsburg above Munich any given day!
