When the BWI route started, BA wetleased a USAir plane (or so was said at the time).
The plane was painted in BA colours and the crew wore BA uniforms - curious to hear all-American tones from BA uniforms! Service was a la BA.

hence BWI instead of IAD for me that time.
In spite of the technicalities described above, the IB offer for a timetabled BA service is disgraceful and is not designed to improve BA's reputation.
