For a single $1000 MO, 3 swipes will suffice when using a SM $1000 VGC. I was not thinking about that type of card since we do not buy them but rather grocery store $500 VGCs.
I was thinking last night about my wife, who gets her VGCs at a supermarket and therefore are only $500 VGCs. I use $200 VGCs.
In her case, she will need to do 4 swipes to drain both cards.
