Ideas on how to salvage extremely cheap fares to Japan?
I bought very cheap fares from the US to Japan: 7 days in late March 2021. They were $180 per person for the whole family. Assuming Japan doesn't reopen for tourists by late March, is there anything I can do to salvage the tickets? I don't mean a refund or eVoucher.
I mean is there a way to perhaps transit through Japan to Hong Kong or some place else? (My research says we can't just connect flights there.) Is there perhaps a special visa I could apply for? (We're not Japanese.) I'd hate to buy a really great fare only to lose it and wind up giving the airline a $1,000 loan at 0% for 7-8 months.
I'm hoping people can help me brainstorm. Thanks in advance.
