I guess this trick is effective for cash bookings, but for Avios redemptions all they can keep are the taxes, yet they make people call for it.

LOL as long as hotels are open I can tolerate lounges being closed. It got a bit challenging to remain in homeless at some point in April but now I have more options of where to go for a hotel roof above my head.
If all hotels close in the next few months I might take you up on your generous offer for a place to crash LOL
