Yes i am taking the laptop to Apple store today. So i guess if apple does not covers it, i will have to check with AMEX for PP. but the only problem is I am not sure if the claim has to be filed within 90 days or the defect has to be identified within 90 says as the language in documents is confusing. It just says the customer must inform amex about the damage within 30 days. The problem is I am over 90 days by 5 days. Looks like i will have to contact AMEX and Apple.

Extended warranty coverage is only an extension of Apple's 1-year warranty so that wouldn't be of any help.
You could try bringing it into an Apple store and see if they will fix it for you under the regular Apple warranty. While it may not be a manufacturer's defect, Apple may fix it for you anyways. It won't cost you anything to get it checked out by them. I wouldn't volunteer that bit of information (about crushing it in your pack) to them though.
yes thats the first thing i am going to do today.
Also i checked and there are no visible cracks on the screen itself. The damage seems to be inside the screen, so should ideally be covered by Apple.
