The laptop may not be covered by Apple Care (which is Apple's extended warranty program) if you didn't buy that option, but I would think it would be covered by the standard 1-year hardware warranty that comes with every Apple product. Thanks, but I am not sure if Apple would cover the screen pixel damage as part of their standard warranty without the apple care plan. This was purchased directly from apple, but the issue seems to be due to laptop being pressed firmly while in backpack.
