I actually really like the Andaz location and Xintiandi, especially for tourists. It's a quick drive to Nanjing Rd for meetings, The Bund, Lujiazui, Hongqiao so if you are going to have meetings or hit tourist sites in many parts of Shanghai then Xintiandi is one of the best locations. I highly recommend the Andaz or Langham next door (I personally prefer the Langham for being elegant whe Andaz is a little young for me now) but both are great locations.
The areas is also great for walking around for tourists as so much is accessible and so many restaurants and museums are within walking distance.
I visit Xintiandi at least once a week
It's not particularly close to any of those places unless you're talking about the section of NJ W Rd that is close to Shimen 1 Rd (also note that NJ W Rd is probably the worst transfer station I've ever experienced). I don't mind the south side of XTD quite as much as the north side because Line 10 is kind of useful.
