As Swanhunter said - keep it forever. The only sound I need to hear are the popping of Champagne corks, the fizzing sound of tonic (or other) cans and the click of cutlery on plates. It is allowed to say "What would you like Dearest?", "Here you are Madam/Sir".

Seriously I do not mind people chatting or laughing as they arrive or leave
