I've never flown enough to worry much about status but some life changes are turning that upside-down in a hurry. I just made MVP last month and should reach gold by the end of the year. My first impression is that the AS program seems very generous but I really have nothing to compare it to.
So, just to be sure I have this all straight....
EQM for status = (base miles + any fare bucket kicker) X 1.5 for current promotion
RDM for redemption = base miles + bonus % for MVP/Gold/75K
EQM = base miles x fare class bonus x 1.5 (current promotion)
For eg: BOS-SEA booked in F fare will get you
2496 (base) x 1.5 x 1.75 ( F fare bonus)= 2496 x 2.625 = 2496 x2.63 (AS round up to 2 decimal place) = 6564 EQM
RDM = base miles x (100% + fare class bonus + elite bonus)
For eg: BOS-SEA booked in F; as a MVPG, you will get 2496 x (100% + 75%[F fare bonus] + 100%[MVPG bonus]) = 2496 x 275% = 2496 x2.75 = 6864 RDM
