IHG is working on improving their coverage in the luxury segment through expansion and takeovers (Regent, Six Senses, and select ICs and Kimptons). But the bulk of their portfolio is still HI/HIEX/CP, Indigo, and Candlewood/Staybridge Suites. If you have no use whatsoever for these, I'd just go for a premium-heavier chain such as Marriott or Hyatt. Of course, there's nothing wrong with staying in a particularly nice Regent or Kimpton on occasion. But I would just simplify my decision and not bother with an IHG credit card if I had no use for 90-95 percent of IHG's portfolio.
