Are there IHG hotels worth staying at?

I know this title sounds a bit harsh but I'm contemplating getting the Chase IHG card with the 140,000 point bonus however I'm hesitant to waste a 5/24 slot on it. My current portfolio consists of the CSR, CF, CFU, Hyatt Visa, and Marriott Visa along with an Amex Platinum. I'd mainly be getting the IHG card for the free yearly night plus the 140,000 bonus points but I'm just not entirely sure that IHG offers many compelling hotels at which to stay. My general preference for hotels usually goes to the mid-upper tier including hotels like the Grand Hyatts, St. Regis, Conrad, etc and I know IHG has their flagship Intercontinental properties but it seems the general quality of Intercontinental properties isn't quite on par with their competitors (in my experience). So because this is an IHG subforum...could you give me some general IHG hotels (in the USA) that offer a solid combination of luxury and value that would make it worth getting the IHG card?
