I own a hotel in Dominican Republic, I'm here at the moment. Weather is lovely, there isn't much Covid, life is pretty normal, at least compared to the UK. I would have suggested you reroute on Iberia via Madrid to Santo Domingo but I guess you're sorted for Madeira. The Iberia MAD - SDQ service is busy and increasing frequency in November so it's pretty solid, and SDQ is about 2 hours drive from PUJ. Hopefully this may help someone else in the same position.
