Six of my last Eight flights were processor upgraded before gate control. The two I missed were at the gate. You never know. Too many moving parts. Cancelled itneraries, SDC for instance. With effectively 10/14 F seats due to seat blocking, not seating strangers together & limiting the overall cabin capacity to 50% with one or two added companions as exceptions, any "attempt" to figure out upgrade potential is futile. On my last flight, there were 9 in F on a 739, 1DF blocked, three singles & three doubles, 2DF was empty with Elites on the waitlist. Since seat blocking has been extended into the New Year, I will continue to monitor it. I have 12 flights booked before the New Year, 6 over 2500 miles, & will have a companion. I don't anticipate/expect too many upgrades even as a 75K traveling with a Gold. I doubt there will be opportunity to "split" our PNR either.
