Or rather my wife because she’s the one I’m sending the CSP referral to for the 80K, and her card that needs the credit limit lowered to give room for it first must let its own signup bonus spending kick in. She has one charge lingering in pending for the third day after which we can pay it down, so that the ratio of balance to credit limit looks presentable.

There is time for the pending charge to post before it gets paid, but I wonder what happens if she tries to pay it down today. I have experienced that Chase will let you pay more than than posted balance, and maybe pending is what makes the difference. On other hand, if the charge somehow never goes through, she can’t get back the money she paid, not a pretty picture!
