I assume the original post is a troll.

If not, then the OP should know that there's actually nothing offensive about the word 'cockpit' other than what one (wrongly) reads into it.

Check the etymology some time. I don't have my OED to hand, but I recall from looking up the word some time ago that the word originally arose to describe the small cramped pits dug to run cock fights -- ie male chickens fighting each other to death as a blood sport in the middle ages.

It was then used more or less generically to describe any small, cramped space.

I believe the term was used to describe the junior officers' sleeping quarters on the lower decks of Royal Navy warships, which doubled as the during- and after-action medical quarters for wounded sailors.

It was then adopted into aviation to describe the small, cramped location where the pilot sat. (Like a number of other terms intentionally borrowed from nautical terminology, such as the use of the word 'Captain' (and their dress, including the cap), which I believe was originated by Pan Am for their flying boats, in an effort to reassure the public of the safety of these new-fangled flying machines, by borrowing the familiar, reassuring words that long-distance travellers of the time were used to, ie nautical terms).

Of course, like many words, it *can* be abused in a sexist sense, but there is nothing inherently wrong with it, and anyone asserting otherwise is mistaken. Like I said, however, check the OED for a more precise definition than what I can recall off the top of my head.
