Resurrecting the thread to ask a highly specific question that probably doesn't have an answer.
I've got a weekend stay in Guangzhou planned and I'm weighing my options between the Grand and Park Hyatts. Both have very low rates for this period. They're within eyesight of one another so location isn't a factor, and I would in all likelihood prefer the Park based on previous experience with both brands. One point in the Grand's favor is the ability to use a Club Access award, and thereby guarantee use of the lounge throughout my stay. However, as an Explorist, I believe my room upgrade privileges make it possible to get a King Bed Deluxe room at the Park (neither a suite nor a room with lounge access, per the T&Cs), which comes with what are called Park Affinity Privileges:
Park Affinity Privileges include:
- Breakfasts at Dining Room
- “Wine & Social” at Living Room (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM), exquisite delicacies and free-flow of selected Prosecco and wines, live band music at night
- Usage of Living Room meeting space for 1 hour per stay (advance reservations recommended)
- All day free flow of coffee, tea and soft drinks at Living Room for registered guests.
- One suit or two garments pressing service per stay, and enjoy 50% discount on additional pressing services
- Late checkout until 4:00 PM (subject to room availability)
This would obviously render the advantage of Club access at the Grand totally moot. My question is, has anyone stayed here as an Explorist or Globalist and received an upgrade to this room type? If so, did you receive these benefits?
