The following aviation terms are in regular use:
1. Cockpit, a flight deck full of male technical crew
2. Box office, a flight deck full of female technical crew
3. Flight deck, the front end of the aircraft (or upstairs) full of a mixed crew (gender, sexuality...)
4. Black box, a device used to record physical parameters on an aircraft
5 Orange box, the colour of the black box or a reference to ginger haired females by occupants of #1
6. CVR cockpit voice recorder, a device for recording non-pertinent conversations between residents of numbers 1 to 3 about the Trolley Dollys only replayed after an accident and causing rows between insurance companies about (a) shouldn't they have been flying the aircraft and (b) do we have to pay each of his three wives in different countries the life insurance money?
7. Trolley dolley, an affectionate term for the "tarts with the carts"
8. Tart with the cart, a term of derision for those 37 year old unmarried longhaul female Pursers who want to marry an occupant of #1 and have a particular way of demonstrating the exit positions with the palms held inwards so that business class passengers can see that they are not wearing a ring.
English is a wonderful language. There has been political correctness for years but we have all accepted it. Imagine the following conversation between a lady purchaser and the stall holder at a poultry fair.
Hello, how can I help you?
I would like to stock my pond with a couple of extra birds please. I would like two Moorcocks please, I like black ones and the larger the better.
