Well I used to live in the Pennine hills in those days and would always look out of the window during school hoping to see the Big Orange (not Billy Connolly) going past. I did not visit LGW at that time so the memory of who flew where is not good.
Now if we want to do the british equivalent of Braniff, what about CourtLine?
One controller asked his assistant to find out the registration of the Courtline aircraft he had on frequency. The controller knew the relationship between colour of the aircraft and the registration and called the pilot something like..
