Per the big no change fee news release 8/31/20 (https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/no-change-fee.jsp):
Starting October 1, 2020, you’ll be able to stand by for flights on the same day as your original departure to the same destination at no charge. This applies to domestic travel, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, regardless of the ticket you bought.

Am I reading this right in that you can now standby for a point A to B flight, even if it doesn't match your original flight routing? My interpretation is that the previous guidance is superseded. Previous guidance on the Same Day Travel page (https://www.aa.com/i18n/plan-travel/...y-travel.jsp):
  • Depart on the same day, from and to the same airports, as your original flight
  • Have the same number of stops, in the same airports, as your original flight
  • Be marketed and operated by American Airlines or American Eagle

For ex, if I have PHL>DFW>LAS booked, I could standby for PHL>LAS and this would be allowed when previously it would not be? Just hoping to confirm, TIA.
Any thoughts? Am going to book off the premise of the new policy.
