On October 25th I'm renting a one-way car at the Charlotte, NC airport (CLT) and returning it on November 15th at the Charleston, SC airport (CHS)...these are the dates of my flights.

I was shocked to find the 3-week price of $1726 through Autoslash.com, which was the cheapest quote compared to Priceline, Costco, AutoRental, Kayak, Hotwire, & a few direct quotes from Hertz & Avis.

Then I tried pricing it for a month (Oct. 25th - Nov 23rd), and got a quote of $1186 through Budget (Autoslash)...still very high, but not as outrageous as the three-week quote.

I then called Budget to confirm that I could return the car eight days early w/o penalties (no fees to turn in early I was told), and the agent got the price down to $1,046 for an economy car. I reserved it, but this still seems ridiculously high to me.

The one-way seems to cost about $300-$400 more that round-trip return, and I also have no choice but to pick up from the airport since I fly in on a Sunday when off-airport locations are closed.

Any other suggestions/tips for me?
