I bought the 38" Ultra-Wide a few weeks ago after the price dropped to $950 and it's working for me and my laptop setup. I'm getting quite a workout lifting up and putting it down each workday!
For my next project, I want to work on +1's setup which is a 7 year old 23" All-in-One PC; I want to let her have a true dual monitor setup. My original plan was to plug in my now-spare 24" monitor to the VGA out (it's the only video out port) but the port appears to be dead (I've tested the cable on other machines and it works). Plan B would be to use the PC as a monitor only as the VGA and HDMI in ports both work and we have a spare laptop that we bought last year for contingency purposes that isn't being used. My thought is that I can buy a docking station and connect the monitor and PC to it using the laptop's USB-C port and either use the existing wireless keyboard and mouse from the PC or buy a new set.
I lost the ability to rate and compare system specs so I am hoping that folks can help me out in determining how much better performance +1 could expect in the proposed setup (primary use is Citrix VDI using MS Office 360 suite).
Current PC specs:
Intel Core i5-3330S CPU @ 2.70GHz
16GB DDR3 SDRAM
Intel HD Integrated Graphics (no VRAM)
Current Laptop Specs:
Intel Core i7 (8th Gen) 8550U @ 1.8 GHz
16GB DDR4 SDRAM
Intel UHD Graphics 620 128MB VRAM
Thanks!
