It is probably worth noting that MVCI properties are not hotels and they are not run like a hotel. Since most every MVCI property is now sold out (i.e. MVCI themselves really don't own the property or the room nights), only the owners can "give away" their weeks. And that is basically how Marriott gets weeks to rent out or possibly put into award inventory. The owner has to give the week to Marriott asking them to rent it out or the owner trades it back to Marriott for Bonvoy points (which is the way Marriott can then possibly offer that time for award reservations.)
