They would require payment directly on Chase card so that they can notify chase on the purchase information and associated rewards/points qualification. It is a store site to chase relationship where they feed data back to Chase. If we charge on Paypal via PPK or Paypal directly, the vendor is not able to send any information to Chase.
IIRC there is language on the UR shopping portal claiming that purchases have to be made using a chase card but in practice this isn't true. Just the other day, I clicked through to home depot from Chase and paid with my BBP. I see the extra 1x for doing so pending on my CSR. Can't see how paying with paypal would work any differently. I think this is a case of a twitter rep parroting the (incorrect) company line.
