Not able to add my Marriott Bonvoy (or edit the reservation)
Later in the year I'm staying at the Buenaventura Golf & Beach Resort Panama, Autograph Collection. My sister did the booking with a local travel agent in Panama that was offering a great discount on the stay (I was skeptical but whatever, we might as well try). A few hours later I received an email from Marriott confirming the reservation saying 'Thank you for booking directly with us', and on the summary of charges it shows 'Local promotion'.
When I use the confirmation number on the Marriott website to access the booking, it wont let me edit anything on it. Can't edit the phone number or add my Marriott Bonvoy. Rang the normal Marriott reservations to check if they could do anything and the agent was as confused as me, without being able to edit the reservation. Her suggestion was to wait until I check in to show the member card and for them to add it manually there.
Should I forget about it and keep the booking as it is? If I show them the member card at check-in, would I still be eligible for collecting nights/points and for any Gold Elite benefits?
