Actually, I have to say I think two have some merit:
1. I do think that not getting access to the Qantas Club with a J ticket is a bad policy. The marginal cost to Qantas must be tiny, and it would certainly p--- off anyone who paid for the ticket themselves. Are they just trying to force infrequent travellers to spring for club membership?
2. I can't see anything on the website (
http://www.qantas.com.au/needhelp/dyn/faq/travelling) about having a stroller taken to the gate on arrival (but nor does it mention being able to gate check one during boarding). I can see how useful that would be. I wonder whether the OP's experience was policy with the other airlines, or whether they did it as a favour. If it's the former, it sounds like something QF should think about doing too.
As for Ansett, place the blame on News Corp. They sucked all the cash out of it, then flipped the husk to Air NZ when they saw the writing on the wall.
