It is possible to check out early. Not being charged the cash portion for the remaining nights is easy. Getting the points back is less so. The ability to return points for early checkouts is not available to all team members, so you have to rely on the person checking you out letting the person on property responsible for doing so know to do so, then them doing it, then someone at Hilton who hopefully hasn't been furloughed actually processing the request. Even before furloughs it could take up to a month for that processing to happen.
