I used to think I understood things but I’ve lost the plot and would welcome some help please ?

I've a 2:1 Avios booking GLA/DXB in November 2020 using a voucher that was extended to Dec2020 (issued June 2018). Can’t see that happening for all sorts of reasons but let’s imagine it’s because Mrs aahch can’t be out of office for quarantine that long on return.

my reading is I can take the Avios back, plus a refund of fees minus the £70 cancellation fee. As the 2:1 is due to expire, I’d expect nothing but sympathy from BA (?)

I also read I can have a FTV that I can use until end April 2022. What exactly does that give me given I’ve wrapped up cash, Avios and a 2:1 in this booking ?

Sorry if I’m being a bit dim, but I’ve read and read and feel like everyone else gets this but me
