My husband and I live in South Africa, with residency visas valid through 2023, have been stranded in NZ since February (as low-risk as it gets), and still are not being allowed to return home. Because we're on US passports. It's worth noting that South Africa has not yet "gazetted" the regs allowing people in from high-risk countries if they've been in a low-risk country for ten days, nor have they gazetted regs on transit. The Transport Minister held another press conference October 2 because he said he was inundated with questions. When asked specifically about transit via a high risk country he did not answer. He also did not address the 10 days in a low risk country. Emirates has now cancelled all flights into RSA effective immediately. Seems the current SA regs are too burdensome.
