The title says it all.

OK, I see that I can use DL via SU to go from LED to MSY, but Delta says I will need to pay an extra $2900 in addition to my original $306 far to do it.

I called up Delta, and gave them a reasonable, pieced-up itinerary that get me from LED-MSY about that time. I was told that I would need to pay an extra $2895 in addition to the original $306!

Did DL ever fly to LED? Anyhow, its quite a long time ago that DL cut all direct Russia flights.
Seems to be KLM for LED-AMS.

I am a USA citizen.

UPDATE: Someone on social media (Quora) who is a Delta reservation employee told me, after I gave him my ticket number, that it was a KLM flight, so I really have a business relationship with KLM, not Delta. (I had purchased the flight from the Delta website.) So as I type, I am waiting to speak to KLM. This Delta employee said that the rules are stricter in the EU.
