CFU-LHR you can check in online. Strongly recommend hand luggage only and mobile BP because Corfu airport is hopelessly inadequate to the numbers of passengers who use it. BA0649 on Saturday left one hour late, with people still boarding 30 mins after departure time due to airport overcrowding. We arrived 2 hrs before departure and basically stood in one queue or another without fail until we boarded. Good thing being in CE to a least be watered and fed (partially with the small sandwich box!).
To be fair it is MUCH improved over the past couple of years with the new owner and building work /improvements.
The problem is that it is very variable with lots of charter flights with TOs dropping all their passengers off 3 hours before their flights on mass which creates pinch point at security. We always check what flights are departing around 2/3 hours after we plan to check in to gauge how busy it is likely to be and juggle accordingly.
To add another data point, BA655 on Saturday was 100% full with everyone onboard in good time and left early. I know because I was on it!
I Arrived around 1.5 hours before departure, walked straight to check in with no queue, dropped bag, 2 min wait for security. The biggest queue was for the (MUCH improved) cafe to get some food to eat onboard, straight through passport control with 2 agents waiting. When we got through boarding was in progress, 3/4 people ahead of us (with others waiting for their rows to be called) and onboard within about 40 mins.
About 15 mins of that was in the cafe, not realising that unlike many airports there were a few other good cafe choices after the passport check (Including another Starbucks) which were deserted. So others may wish to bypass the ones in the main departure lounge if that one looks busy.
Landed early so obviously our priority bags came out very last, but you can’t win them all!
Was v impressed compared to many previous experiences - and they’ve finally put air con in!
