It's funny, because in my diary of that period I had come in on DP621, a weird one-off flight from Geneva that arrived at 10h30 at LGW. I remember meeting a travel agent in Geneva who was desperate to fill an Air 2000 plane back to London on the 19th December 1992 for a low price in those days, something like 99 francs. Probably a ski charter flight, given it was Saturday, which would otherwise have gone back empty. I recall having a huge hot meal and amazing service, despite the time of day.

My records then state that I got a coach "along awful M25 to Heathrow", followed by the Tube into London where I did a surprising number of things, including "dodging a bomb scare in Shaftesbury Avenue". I think the detour to Heathrow must have been to pick up my ticket for the Inverness flight later that day and in those days the coach between LGW and LHR was dirt cheap, especially for under 26's with a student coach card. The only other reason I can think for the detour via Heathrow is that maybe I met a friend and didn't write it down.

I am not sure how I managed to achieve everything I did in London and get back to Heathrow for a flight at 17h00 (all done by Tube and bus, no private drivers!). I have noted that I flew with BA to Inverness at 17h00, but maybe that was a mistake on my part. If it was, then I guess I flew to INV on the flight that left at 19h00 (which would have been BA7158, following the logic with the previous Dan-Air numbers). I then noted that there was thick snow in Inverness (which is actually quite rare for that city) and I stayed overnight, having a few beers at Nicky Tam's (a former bar on the riverside, I think) before heading up to Caithness the next day.
