The Park Hyatt in Canberra, Australia is quite a historic hotel, IMHO.
It was originally built as a hotel in the 1920's and it has been fully restored to its former glory. The front-office staff wear uniforms in the art deco style. (they look rather uncomfortable and I've always wondered if they get paid extra for wearing them).
In the main walkway, there is a display cabinet with interesting items of note related to the hotel's history. A most interesting item was a menu from a banquet, in the grand ball room, hosted by the president of then South Vietnam in the honour of then current Australian Prime Minister Harold Holt. The president lost his country not long after. Prime Minister Holt went missing after a swim (or dive) and was never found while in office.
Not to mention the PH is the ONLY five star hotel in the capital of Australia!
Pictures of the hotel are available here..
