Citigold is an account status given to individuals who maintain a combined balance of more than $100K. They count checking account balances, investments, IRAs etc towards the total. Citigold gives you a gold ATM card, special 1-800 service desk, waives/reduces most banks fees and comes with a few other goodies. It is sort of like having elite airline status at the bank. Here are the official details:

In addition you may also add:

What It Costs • An initial deposit of $500 is required to open the account.
• To avoid a $25 monthly service fee, within 6 months of opening a CitiGold account you need to maintain a combined household average balance of:- $100,000 or more in eligible deposits, credit balances, investments and retirement accounts,
or,
- $250,000 if you also include a first mortgage from Citibank.
