I have a flight this weekend and the return on Sunday was waitlisted for upgrade. I checked today and found award availability, but the upgrade hadn't cleared. I called the Gold line and she said it was confirmed waitlist, something about already being checked in for the outbound and she would re-ticket and I needed to check in again.

If you are waitlisted for upgrade, does on-line check in cause a problem? Or would I have been upgraded when I checked in for the return?
