Sorry it's been a while. Trip was good, Alaska is not at all what I expected and honestly its probably my least favorite trip right now. We very much enjoyed the glaciers, we did a glacier hike and a helicopter trip when in Seward and that was really amazing but we didn't see much wildlife and honestly other than a few places, the scenery just wasn't that spectacular to me. One of our fave stops was probably the chena hot springs. We already booked to go back in January to try to see the borealis. Only reason we are going back, that and we have leftover alaska miles lol
The trip itself during coviid was awesome, there was ZERO traffiv anywhere (which I already sort of expected despite the warnings on here) sso our road tripping portion was very enjoyable in that sense (other than a lackluster road scenery that we found well boring). I think our favorite road part was a small portion of the road to seward. We were not impressed with Denali at all, granted we didn't venture inside but from what we had experienced all trip with lack of wildlife, we probably won't venture back either. We are a bit spoiled having just done y yellowstone last year. For us there was no comparison, yellowstone all the way. My personal favorite stop was talkeetna for some strange reason. Not a whole lot to do in the sense that it is a short strip of shops and eateries but loved the quirkiness of it and the pizza place was great. We tried to do an air tour to denali from here but everyone ended their days early and even though we arrive by 3pm, they had no more flights for the day, we found that so odd considering that there is light until midnight practically. We were set to go the ext morning but we are glad it did not pan out, cuz again, after driving from talkeetna to fairbanks, we just were not impressed.
overalll most places hadd very good covid protocols and we felt fine everywhere. Hope its the same in january. We are going back for 3 nights to soak in hot springs in zero degree weather LOL
