Your home router must have open source firmware.

This is not Linux zealotry -- I actually run Windows on my laptop, these days, this is just common sense. If your router gets pwn'd you are absolutely doomed. And while your OS has multiple layers of security and anti malware protection, there's typically nothing on routers.
